The L-1 visa allows multinational companies to transfer employees from a foreign office to the US. L-1A is for managers/executives; L-1B is for employees with specialized knowledge.

Eligibility Criteria

  • 1Employed by multinational company for 1+ year in last 3 years
  • 2L-1A: Manager or executive role
  • 3L-1B: Specialized knowledge of company products/processes
  • 4US company must be affiliate, parent, or subsidiary of foreign company

Required Documents

  • Employer petition (I-129)
  • Proof of qualifying relationship between companies
  • Employment letters & org charts
  • Job description for US role
  • Valid passport
  • DS-160 form

    Receive USCIS approval notice (I-797)

    Apply for L-1 visa at US consulate

    Attend visa interview

    Travel to USA for intracompany transfer
